Hello! Welcome to another Five Favorites. I am feeling very lucky to be able to bring you fun things like simple but festive Christmas decor, my daughter’s fave new hairdryer (mine–she just borrowed it), what to watch on television, and more.
Today in addition to Annie and Cindy, we also have one of our longtime friends, Melaine from My Sweet Savannah. You will love her warm, clean, casual style!
1. Great Hair Dryer
My curly-haired daughter, Alexandra just borrowed my Revlon One-Step Hair Dryer Brush (around $29.99) and came out looking gorgeous.
She said, “I haven’t been so impressed by a piece of technology in recent years!” Hoda and I love it, too. (Hoda mentioned it on the Today Show).
2. Simple But Festive Christmas Decor
I love the simple Christmas decorations that Sherry Hart did for her clients’ cabin. Here are a couple of shots, but you should head over there for more.
Sherry put a little plaid into the mix on the sectional (I was thinking of doing this, too).
3. Comfortable Fold-up Bed for Extra Overnight Guests
Since we only have one guest room, I bought this memory foam XL Twin Futon that folds up for my office. Tommy likes it so much, he’s going to buy one for his overnight guests. I also bought the mattress pad and cover.
4. Go Take A Hike!
It was really exhilarating to take a hike Thanksgiving morning with the fam. It’s a tradition!
This trail is called Land’s End, out past the Presidio in San Francisco.
5. What to Watch On TV
Howard watched, Fisherman’s Friends on Netflix while I was in San Diego and was raving about it. So, we made him watch it again with us the other night. It takes place in Wales. “Sea shanties have long united 10 Cornish fishermen, but when their chants sail to the music charts, their friendship is kept at bay.”
This week, I will be showing you my Christmas Décor on Wednesday with the Holiday Home Tour and Thursday with Christmas Inspired By Nature (so I’d better get busy, crank up the carols!). Please come back.

MA – Your daughter’s hair is glorious. If the dryer will do this for me I’m all in! Sherry Hart’s Christmas decor is so understated and tasteful. I love it. Wish I’d seen it before I did my decorating. Oh well … pinned for next year. I’m jotting down a note about the Presidio Trail. We need to expand our dog walking horizons … this seems like just the place. Love your Sunday posts! xo
Thanks, Juliet!!
WE loved that movie FISHERMEN FRIENDS!
Your daughter is SO GORGEOUS!
I may have to try that dryer brush thingy………BORED with my 30 year old one!

Would your daughter be willing to let you post a before and after? I have curly hair, not nearly as long as hers and I am so impressed with our beautiful hers looks! How much time did it take her? Mine takes so long to dry that I usually just wear it curly but that dryer might be perfect for changing things up. Tell her thank you if she is willing to show her curly hair, too!
Alexandra says it took her about a 1/2 hour. She normally wears her hair curly too but said she didn’t like the way her hair looks here with the SF water. There is a photo of her with curly hair here: https://classiccasualhome.com/shopping-your-closet-for-a-collected-look/
Like mother…like daughter, both beautiful inside and out! As always I love your fab five list for this Sunday. I’ve ordered the hair dryer and we want to watch Fisherman’s Friends.
Can’t wait to see your Christmas decor, I know I’ll love it.
Thanks, Gail. YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL and talented…I’m looking at your painting of Rocky..it’s in my office now.
Hi Mary Ann, I really enjoy your blog, I found it a while ago via Kim’s blog. Just wanted to say that Fisherman’s Friends is set in Cornwall, in the southeast of England – in Port Isaac, which is where Doc Martin is set, if you know that show.
I love your photos, especially the views that you show of San Francisco. I’d so love to visit some day!
Yes! My husband said that too…that it was the Doc Marten town. So pretty. You should come to SF when you can!
I’ve had that hair dryer for over a year. I can’t say enough good things about it!
I like it too!
DID I MANAGE TO “CLEAR HISTORY?”
THIS IS A TEST just delete this Mary Ann………..
I found the HISTORY BUTTON and pushed cleared although couldn’t see anything OPEN.
It WORKED, Elizabeth. Thanks so much!
Hi Mary Ann. Thanks for all posts. I always come away with something worthwhile. Question: the fold up foam mattress-is that meant to lay on top of something or do you use it directly on the floor? Thanks.
Thanks, Barbara. It would probably be nicer higher up on a platform…but since space is an issue for us we put it on the floor and Tommy thought it was fine (better than the sofa).
Hi Mary Ann! We too watched Fisherman’s Friends last week and so enjoyed it! Two thumbs up as they say! Thank you for your Sunday posts … well, all your post actually! Have a great Sunday!
Thanks so much, Holly!!
Hi Mary Ann!
I so look forward to your Sunday posts and all your posts! I have that hair dryer/styler and I’ve never had so many compliments on my hair! It’s very hot so my hair person said to let your hair partially dry first to limit the heat exposure.
I made your apple galette for Thanksgiving. It was perfect as there was only my husband and I and he is not a pumpkin pie fan. I have to admit that I bought frozen pie dough and it worked fine. Thank you for the recipe.
Have a wonderful day!
Thanks, Lorrie. I usually let my hair partially air dry too!
Hi Mary Ann –I love these Sunday posts (and your others as well). I’ve already put that hair dryer in my shop-ping cart for my daughter! Looking forward to your Wednesday home tour. I’m off now to re-style my mantel
(again!). Have a great week!
I love to play with my mantel, too, Janet.
