Modern Farmhouse Décor Ideas to Refresh Your Look
There is a lot to love about the Modern Farmhouse look that is so popular right now. You can incorporate this by:
lightening your wall color
eliminating clutter
mixing in modern elements like these chairs below
adding a new fabric or two and
fresh or realistic faux greenery
including elements with a rustic or “farm” patina
Julie’s kitchen nook in Southern California
really is better off with a round table.
Which didn’t take much convincing.
Those are my purses cluttering the before photo.
Love the natural oak finish…
Cindy Hattersley gave this
rustic chair a lift with pretty fabrics.
And Cindy’s family room with the lighter walls, rough beams and beautiful fabrics is a great example of fresh farmhouse
(they are actually surrounded by farms and ranches so it’s the real deal…
Chief thinks he blends in).
Lisa’s stairwell in Northern California has a crisp makeover with a new railing, French pitch forks, Benjamin Moore White Dove paint and natural grass shades from Smith and Noble.
Indoor plants work well in a modern farmhouse setting (actually most settings).
In fact, I stopped by Wisteria Antiques recently to pick up a fresh plant.
And then yesterday, I noticed all the
really good artificial ones at Pottery Barn.
These are perfect for places that don’t get natural sunlight,
like a powder room or on a book case.
Hopefully I won’t kill this real one…
It’s on my coffee table along with the new tray and shell inlay box that I bought at the Homegoods in San Diego.
Natural elements feel easily Modern Farmhouse
as Boho Chic or Transitional.
Who’s reflection is that in the lamp :)?

OK….this clean modern style is so me! I have those pitch forks stored away but now I may bring them back out. I love the round table with those modern chairs…..perfect solution!
