IS YOUR RUG TOO SMALL? Layering and Large Neutral Area Rugs

My friend, JoAnn wanted a  larger rug for her family room.  She sent me a photo and I thought, why not layer her wool rug over a larger sisal like Liana did here…

Liana found the Oushak rug on Etsy…great source.
(The sisal is from Crate and Barrel).
This is a nice layered look, too…

Here is another instance where we used a seagrass
rug under the client’s existing hand tied rug.
The good thing about this is that
it’s soft to sit/play on the wool part
(notice the floor cushions).

It adds color on the floor and
enlarges the use of an expensive hand made rug.

This is a good looking room
but at least the front feet of the furniture
should be on the carpet.  It’s too small.
Our 8′ x 10′ bedroom jute rug is too small, too
(and chewed up by Chief).
I have been looking at these,
somewhat reasonable (under $2000),
neutral, wool, 9′ x 12′ rugs.

Do you have a favorite or others you can
tell me about in my price range?

We had a great time in Florida last week.   Look at the feast/seafood boil my husband and Eric made.  Cathi and I set the table with craft paper and a newspaper runner.  Easy clean-up…although I wasn’t much help with my damaged ankle.
But I am happy to report that the boot is off now.  I’m down to one crutch (and a lot of physical therapy) and will soon be driving again.  No more complaining!

Have a great week!
