When we asked Marisa, the bride-to-be, if she had any shower ideas for the celebration we were giving them, she said she liked the idea of a Couples Sunset Wedding Shower.
We thought: Perfect! As the sun sets on one chapter of life, another begins with the promise of love and companionship. What better way to celebrate their union than with a sunset-themed couples bridal shower!
Setting The Scene For The Themed Shower
Claudia (one of the hosts) volunteered her home and backyard as the venue. She has a lovely western view of the sunset. She really outdid herself with the preparations, too (thanks again, Claudia).
Couple’s Shower Invitations
We discussed paper versus electronic invites and decided that in this day and age…people prefer the ease of responding electronically (plus it’s easier to keep track of the guest list).
This template is from from Paperless Post with gold accents and Florida palm trees.

We encouraged guests to dress in sunset-inspired colors to enhance the overall atmosphere. The bridal shower invitations were my responsibility. A nice feature was that it was easy to send reminder notices to guests who had not responded closer to the party date.
Bridal Shower Décor
Claudia had the capable assistance from a party planner, Meghan Murphy Events. Justine of Degrave Designs created the balloons.

The garden party was decorated in tones of orange, pink, and gold to mimic the hues of a setting sun. Globe string lights (installed by Luxe Party Rentals) and candles create a soft, romantic ambiance.

Justine anchored the balloons with rocks in the pool to stay in place!
Photo Scene
Claudia interspersed pops of color in the greenery for a backdrop for photos.

Food and Drinks

Signature cocktails were served: “Jack’s A Little Old Fashioned” and “Marisa’s Romantic Ranch Water” with a selection of beer and wine.

A variety of appetizers were served followed by a buffet dinner and desserts by Christie’s creations.
Entertainment
Live professional music was provided by a talented guitarist, Daron Baker, who judged the mood of the party with soft cocktail music at the beginning and dancing tunes later.
We also had a fun game of life-sized Jenga where guests wrote personal comments to the couple on the blocks.

The Hosts With The Couple
Aren’t the citrus shades great?

Sunset Photo Book As A Gift To Marisa And Jack
The hosts gave the couple a Book Of Sunsets (complied by Terry). We had asked all the guests to send in a favorite sunset photo and personal note.
Howard and I sent this view from our apartment in San Francisco (Marisa and Jack had stayed there while on vacation a couple of years ago).

This hopefully gives you inspiration when considering themed bridal showers and decor ideas.
To summarize, a Couples Sunset Wedding Shower offers a unique and magical way to celebrate love as day turns to night.

Everyone had a great time. We are excited for Marisa and Jack’s big day!
