Here are some things that I am loving lately, including a Free People Midi dress, and a brief stay with Cindy Hattersley to celebrate Elizabeth’s The Vintage Contessa’s 60th birthday.
I’m writing this from the car on the way to Southern California. It’s a little over five hours to get there (according to the GPS). We are going to help our son, Thomas (AKA Tommy) move into his new apartment in Los Angeles. There could be some updates on Instagram.
I’m also going to visit Our Lady of The Rosary Cathedral in San Bernardino (where I was baptized and went to grammar school). We are renovating the pews and chairs with good-looking, durable fabrics. And then on to see my mom and sister in San Diego (finally after four months). Venturing out a bit, but we will be wearing masks and using lots of hand sanitizer.
Farmgirl Flowers Tutorials
I first found Farmgirl Flowers when they were working out of the San Francisco Flower Mart…and I loved their loose, breezy style. Since then, I have sent them as gifts.

Trader Joe’s
This is a fun post: Trader Joe’s New For Summer Products.
Pepperoni Pizza With Fresh Trader Joe’s Dough
My husband, Howard made this with just four ingredients: fresh dough, fresh pizza sauce in refrigerated section, shredded mozzarella, and pepperoni slices. Bake in a preheated oven at 475 degrees around 12-15 minutes until the crust is brown.
Flowery Free People Midi Dress
This comfortable, stretchy mesh dress is on sale now. It’s supposed to be a midi but on me, it’s a maxi! Here I am dressed to go to Elizabeth’s birthday luncheon at Cindy’s house.
Free People Dress (less than half price, other colors, too)• Jean Jacket (40% off) • Block Heeled Sandals
Birthday Party For Elizabeth At Cindy’s House
This was sort of a dreamlike outdoor luncheon at Cindy’s home on the Central Coast of California. Isn’t she and her dog, Beau so chic?
You can see here that we took off our masks briefly and no one is touching. Strange to see good friends that you haven’t seen in a while and yet not hug. But we had a great time! The two ladies on the left are new to me friends of Elizabeth’s, Heidi, and Shannon. Then, there is Elizabeth, me, Cindy, and Kim from Northern California Style.Â
Cindy and I were saying that Elizabeth makes us all look good 🙂 My Straw Hat is from Target.
I’ve written about Cindy Hattersley’s Collected Look at Her California Ranch but just to remind you how pretty it is…
Look at the views out her windows…
Cute Soft Well Priced Tunic From Amazon
I met my friend JoAnn outside for a walk through the newly opened Anthropologie. She looked adorable in the blue and yellow tunic with white jeans. I wish I would have gotten a photo of her. But she bought her really well-priced tunic top/mini dress on Amazon. Lots of colors. I want one. Very cool and lightweight for summer.
That’s it for now. How’s is everything where you are?
Fun post and thank you for the lead on the VERY affordable Amozon top/dress. Ordered it in black.
My sister ordered it too! And it looks so cute on my friend, JoAnn.
Those flowers are stunning! You have inspired me to head out to the store to buy some fresh flowers and brighten up my home 🙂
It’s funny how cheerful flowers can make a room!
Oh my goodness thanks for the mention. I look like the old maid that blew in with the wind in that picture! Must have been after the wind came up. That was such fun. I don’t think any of us will be getting together again soon until things settle down. It sure was fun though! I love trader joes pizza dough! Especially now that Steve has his new ooni pizza oven. The problem is I like pizza waaaayy too much! You looked darling in that long dress. Funny how midis turn into maxis on us!
WHAT A LOVELY TIME WE ALL HAD……………
THINK THAT WILL BE ALL THE VISITING IN PERSON WE WILL BE DOING FOR A WHILE!
HOPE THE TRIP WAS SMOOTH SAILING DOWN THE FIVE!
ARE YOU PLEASED WITH TOMMY’s NEW APARTMENT?
DOES HE ALLOW YOU TO DECORATE?
HAVE A GOOD VISIT AND HEAD HOME PLEASE WITH ZERO COVID IN YOUR HANDBAG!!!!

Does your friend with the beautiful ranch home have an Instagram? I would love to see more of her gorgeous decorating! I’m so glad you got together with some friends… It’s good for the soul!
Yes @CindyHattersley
How nice of Cindy to host the party for Elizabeth…looks like you all had a great time!! I love her house.
Some of the Trader Joe’s items sounded good except for the Mochi pancake mix…they certainly come up with some interesting things! So often I go in there with my list and don’t wander around too much. I am so sad they no longer have the Poke Bowls! I heard they were looking for a new supplier for their Poke and Sushi items but it’s been a long time so I sort have given up… :o(
Linda
My daughter and I were just saying we’d like some poke! Have you tried their pizza dough, Linda?
Haha I just bought some of their dough today. I’m disappointed though that they no longer carry the whole wheat. I’m sure my husband doesn’t care however!! :o)
Mary Ann,
I have been looking for tunics that would be fun for summer. Johnny Was is out of my budget and the link to the ones you showed is perfect. Thank you for always sharing such great finds.
I know you had so much fun with Cindy and friends. 🙂
xo,
Karen
Hi Karen, Nordstrom Rack does carry Johnny Was but right now it looks like their inventory is a little low.
I picked up a nice top there last year for more than half off.
I love Nordstrom Rack.
Thank you for this fun post with great links – looks like you are venturing back out!
Curious, what is your favorite perennials fabric?
Oh, I’m so envious that I couldn’t be there. What fun. I do miss you guys!! I wonder if Instacart delivers from Trader Joes.Y our husband deserves a blog just about him. Love all your looks. It’s great that your son will be here in LA. I know you’ll be visiting and we will be able to get together. Right? Right!
Sandra, let’s definitely get together when the virus is squashed!
hey Maryann
I am beyond jealous, to be relatively close to these amazing women and the life & gardens of California! SWOON!!
I did open this post with trepidation, remembering how I have spent a fortune over the years on your wonderful recommendations….this was an easy one :-). much to check out
