Décor Projects IN THE WORKS!

June 3, 2014 By Mary Ann Pickett 1 Comment

I LOVE “before and afters”…
who doesn’t?
But the reality is, there is always something still to be done to
FINISH…
with backorders, scheduling, decision making, etc…
So, I decided to start showing things in progress…
Before…

The goal is to LIGHTEN UP
 the dining and living rooms.
So, we added heavy Belgian Linen curtains
from Restoration Hardware…hung higher.
Some adjustments will be made
(like the curtain wrinkles will fall out and the
chandelier needs to be lowered to 30″ to 36″ above the table).
After
I picked up the runner last week on sale at Pottery Barn.
This pretty oil painting of my client as a child
was taken from the attic loft.
The dining chair seats have been recovered in an Italian
Lee Jofa Hakan Indigo.
Another corner of the dining room…
this is a charming 1920’s bungalow
on a prestigious college campus.
Before
We cut some magnolia leaves from her garden and added
hydrangea and candle sticks.
After
I still want to play around with the china cabinet display.
To carry the “worldly”ethnic theme
into the adjacent living room,
we are bringing in these fabrics…
We had red chairs recovered…
before              and                after

And we ordered a chair in a
tone on tone Greek key pattern,
lamps and a new coffee table
…so, we are just waiting for
the coffee table and Liana’s fab pillows.
(And I re-organized their book cases–you burn calories doing that).
This is before with their old gold mirror…
See how much better after with
this new Pottery Barn mirror?
For a client in  Newport Beach…
We repainted their red kitchen
(shades of off white with green accents) and
used this Schumacher Lydia Vine pattern .

  It’s a beautiful French linen.
A botanical pattern is fitting as my client
is a landscape architect.

Liana made this.  It’s even pretty on the back.
The fabric ties in the wood stained
cabinets and green counters.

Before
My client sent me this after I-phone photo today…
The rug is from Dash and Albert.
Another client has had lots of fresh improvements
going on at her house…
Before…
involving…
This rug and these fabrics…
Sofas were recovered with new legs without skirts…
After
Just waiting for the new end table and lamp.
But eventually we will see it all finished.
Thanks for visiting!
