Crate and Barrel and CB2 have been great over the years for when I want to kick up a slightly more modern vibe at a moderate price. Lately, I have been loving what they are doing! Have you been into either store recently?
I was in Crate and Barrel to check out this sofa for a client:
It’s REALLY comfortable and has a sleek line with a nice wooden base. It’s made in the U.S. by Lee Industries and is customizable.
It’s for a family room that’s open to the kitchen (might have some eating going on here so the navy is a good choice). We like this Nola rug with it. Looks more like the sample above.
For a different client (but they happen to be friends) we just bought this coffee table. The cement top has a cool finish in person. It’s going into a room with a lot of stained wood already so this is a nice change from more wood.
I want these comfortable leather club chairs for ME!
But for now, I’m dressing up our current leather chairs with these reasonably priced woven cotton pillows from CB2. (they are 20″ squares but make sure you get their 23″ inserts).
CB2 is also a good place to pick up updated vases like this one.
Crate and Barrel and CB2 have fun accessories like these…
After I published the last post “Seven Healthy Habits to Feel Happier”, my son sent this text…
Now THAT made me happy! And then my sister called “to say hello while she was chopping celery sticks for display in the fridge.” Ha! If you read the post you know what she is talking about.
PS. You have probably noticed the advertisements on classic•casual•home. There are several costs involved with running the blog like technical assistance, web hosting, website design, “Google friendly” widgets and for a reliable email server (since many of you said you were not getting them). Are your eyes glazing over? Anyway, the ads offset these costs. Thank you so much for understanding. You are the best!

Hi! i have been eyeing Crate & Barrel for their Lee Industries furniture. How do you know which specific pieces from Crate and Barrel are manufactured by Lee Industries?
I am not sure. Sometimes it says in the store under the cushion.
After reading your post today, I just had to tell you how grateful I am for your wonderful blog. I retired last year and relocated from Houston to Seattle. Since I love your sense of style and talent for creating comfortable living spaces, I re-read all your lovely posts about previous projects. Then, I went to Crate and Barrel. I chose the Montclair apartment sofa, 2 Tux chairs (Prism Silver fabric) with a Memphis area rug and some additional sofa pillows for accents. I used your tips for making everything look “classic and casual,” and, although it’s not at the level of your talent and expertise, I’m very comfortable with everything. Thank you!
What an exciting time for you! Your selections sound lovely. I would love to see a photo! You can email me at [email protected].
Thanks for the sweet comment, Linda!
Tommy or is Thomas now?… is the sweetest son. I would be so happy too!
xoxo
Don’t you just love sons! Sometimes they amaze you. Great posts.
I take it you have an awesome, too, Peggy! 🙂
Definitely lots of fun stuff!
On another note, you know how much I adore your blog, but lately it’s has been inundated lots of ads that are in between almost every one of your photos and they even divide your descriptions. It is really annoying and I was wondering if you know about this and if there’s a way to opt out of them?
I will never stop reading your blog but these ads have got to go!
xo Gail
I know they can be annoying Gail. Based on your comment, I just lowered the in content ad setting from “very low” to “extremely low.” (on both desktop and mobile devices). Click on the X’s to get rid of the ones you can. I can tell you privately how much it costs to run this blog. You might be surprized. I used to use blogger and it was free…but they own all your posts and photos…not the person writing (me). And it’s sort of outlined towards the end of this post all the boring miscellaneous costs …but basically, I lose money without ads.
Oh Mary Ann! I had no idea that there were costs to you for having a blog. For some reason, that doesn’t seem right. Anyway, I will just have to ignore the ads because your blog is still my favorite and ads or not, I’ll be a loyal follower. Thanks for letting me know.
I LOVE all your choices. I need to get into Crate and Barrel. They are always such a good resource. Those pillows are fabulous!
Your son is a dear!
I feel lucky, Brenda.
That message from your son is the best!
I didn’t know Crate and Barrel carried Lee Industries! It is a great company, well made sofas (worth recovering if needed) Love your blog, part of my daily read!
Mary Ann,
I have a Crate and Barrel Harborside sofa and I absolutely love it. We should link together! I’ll place you in mine tomorrow. Love meeting you the other day!
Darn…I was in Cabo and missed this. Let’s plan something sometime and I think you would be great for Project Design.
I have not been to Crate and Barrel in a long time, I will have to check them out. Love your choices.
I think I will go to Crate and Barrel this weekend. I basically the x on the bottom ad and it’s fine. Thank you for all this free information!
Always love reading your blog posts, ads and all……
Thanks, Ron. I enjoy yours too!
