Good morning! I hope you are well. Cindy, Annie, and I want to keep it light, fresh, and informative for you over here with our Sunday Five Faves such as a cozy classic sweater on sale, an amazing household product, and more.
1. Weather for A Cozy Classic Sweater
I went into the Banana Republic for a gift and well, picked this up for me. Ever do that? #guiltyascharged It was a cold day, this was super soft and sweaters were 50% off. Comes in red, soft yellow and white, too.
Cable knit Puff Sleeve Sweater • Gap Boot Cut Jeans • Booties
More cute sweaters below…remember 50% off (and an extra 10% off if you have one of the Gap cards).
2. Christmas Stockings
The white stockings are from Target. They are new as I can’t find the old ones. Howard always does a great job filling the stockings with goodies.
This year we added a new stocking monogrammed with an “L” for Luca as we have an engagement in the family…
3. Love In A Pandemic
If love can blossom during the past year that we have had, this is a good sign for their marriage! Plus, we love his mom’s Mashed Potatoes with the secret ingredient! 🙂
Luca asked Howard for his blessing over Thanksgiving…and Howard kept it a secret (from ME) for over a week until Luca proposed!
4. A Vaccine of Another Sort
My cousin sent us this old newspaper clipping of our family taking the polio vaccine. I remember my parents being particularly worried about polio as my uncle, my father’s brother, died from it. My uncle Charles left behind a beautiful young widow and three small children.
That’s me in the headband. I loved that checked dress. Look at my little mama with six kids! It was always a good time at our house.
5. An Amazing Household Product
I had a Roomba on my wish list and my sister surprised us with an early Christmas present. OMG! I thought we were a clean household…but you should see the cr@p this thing finds every day. It cleans under the bed, sofas, and hard to reach places. It’s $50 off now, but I am not sure how long that will last. We programmed it to run for 45 minutes every morning. I think this is the smallest one…you may want to upgrade if you have a larger place.
That’s if for a Cozy Classic Sweater, Christmas Stockings, and the amazing Roomba.
Now let’s go see what great things Cindy and Annie have for us this week!
Mary Ann,
Yes, during these great sales I confess I bought a sweater for our casual Christmas Eve. It’s easy to find great things when we shop for others. 🙂
I congratulate your future son-in-law on his brilliant engagement with your sweet daughter.
Have a lovely Christmas. I realize it’s possibly a little different this year, but it is still special.
xo,
Karen
Thanks, Karen. We have a lot to be thankful for…you are right.
Hi Marianne,
Love the clipping showing polio vaccine. I grew up in SF and remember going to the school auditorium after Sunday mass at St Thomas Apostle to get the polio vaccine. I was 5 so I did not go to school there yet. I was very excited to see the school! My mom worked in the “Little Jim” ward at Children’s Hospital on California St. That was the polio unit. I later worked at Children’s as a nurse as well. Polio vaccine was a miracle then and I have seen similar small miracles with subsequent children’s vaccines. Our parents were terrified of polio as it took so many lives and handicapped so many people. I am looking forward to getting my COVID 19 vaccine soon!
Wow, Ann, that is so interesting to know about your background and that of your mother’s! Merry Christmas!
Okay so I had to buy the sweater since I have some Gap rewards I haven’t used…that color is supposed to be a popular one this fall plus it’s a flattering color on me.
Wow Howard is good at keeping secrets. 🙂
The newspaper clipping reminds me of the one we found while clearing out my in-law’s home. My husband had 6 siblings, one year the local newspaper featured an article about his family around Mother’s Day. It showed each kid doing a chore around the house. No slackers in that household!
Linda
Yes…I really love to spend those Gap rewards! That is so sweet about the newspaper clipping of your husband’s family!
An engagement! How exciting … congratulations to the happy couple! But, did someone say mashed potatoes … I’m following that link. I never met a potato I didn’t love. What a great photo of your family … it’s truly amazing how medical science rises to the occasion again and again. We love our Rosie the Roomba … she’s a hard worker. How did I ever lived without her? Adorable sweater … you are the cutes model! Merry Christmas! xo
Our Roomba is called “I love Tommy” as you know programmed it 🙂
Hi Mary Ann,
I need to get that sweater and I love the chestnut color you got. Only thing is, I’ve got nowhere to wear it!! I also went directly to Gap to order your boot cut jeans and was ready to buy when I read they have a button fly! WHY do they do that. I have bad arthritis in my hands and can barely buttons on my shirts! I also have a Roomba on my wish list but my husband laughed when I told him I wanted one. But I think I’ll get one and surprise him with it for Christmas! Haha! Thanks for always giving us so much joy on Sundays with your Fav 5 ideas.
Hugs
Gail, it’s a zip fly with a button at the top. Did you use my link?
I bought the Roomba for my husband, too 🙂 But when my sister sent us one, I returned it. Merry Christmas!
