Come See Our Home Decorated For Christmas!

Merry Christmas and welcome!

Thank you, Jenny at Evolution of Style for allowing me to be a part of this fun, enthusiastic and sweet 12 Days of Christmas Home Tour.

Two years ago, when we moved from our home in Newport Beach to our 1920’s apartment in San Francisco, I had to consolidate our Christmas decorations–and somewhat painfully, gave away a lot.

But we do enjoy the view!  Ding, ding, ding… there is one cable car that is fully decked out for Christmas but I never manage to get to the window with my camera fast enough.

(Our apartment has all the original crystal and brass door knobs).
Lack of space has simplified my Christmas décor, so that I
  • Use what we have in new ways…that’s a money saver!
  • Incorporate fresh greenery and flowers.
  • Light a candle or two…
  • Have a vintage vibe since our apartment is close to 100 years old

This is everyone’s favorite $9.99 boxwood wreath from Trader Joe’s (thank you, TJ)
…I just tucked in berries.

On the mantel, I’m using crystal decanters (wedding presents–Ha! practically “vintage”) as vases with new beaded snowflakes from Home Goods.
The mantel is antique but the mirror is just two years old from Anthropologie.  The peonies are from the SF Flower Mart…but I like hydrangeas from the grocery store here, too.

See the jeweled tree on the left?  I made it using vintage pieces…some charms have a lot of meaning to me so I love bringing this out and observing it each year.  More about making it HERE.

This year, I have Christmas cards on the coffee table in this glass box and ornaments under a cloche.

Come into our dining room, set for a casual dinner.

The napkin ring is just a circle of ribbon.

This little twig tree is from Restoration Hardware and the pinecones were collected in the mountains and lightly sprayed with fake snow.

Really simple in the guest room… I added a red throw over the headboard and Santa Claus.

And in the master bedroom… garland from Paper Source…you can change the wording depending on the occasion.

Here are some images as it gets darker…
which happens so early these days!
Chief likes a little firelight.

Votive candles are always fun…they make a nice hostess gift, too.

I think I will turn on some Christmas music…

Your decor is lovely!! I am nearing the time to start downsizing some of my Christmas decor…..this post is giving me the inspiration I’ve needed to start that process. Thank you Mary Ann!
(Wish I could trade some of it for that glorious view that you have)
    I miss the Bay Area!!
