Hello! So happy you could join me here today for my Five Faves with Cindy and Annie. This week some favorites are neutral cargo pants, my pillows obsession, and pretty dried flowers for an early start for Fall.
I wrote this post on Friday since we had our daughter and son–in-law’s “hometown wedding reception” last night…I hope to show you more about that soon!
Neutral Cargo Pants For All Ages
I like these neutral cargo pants as they are patterned but not too wild. I took them on our Spain with three different colored tee shirts. This is the second time I’ve asked my hairstylist, Inna, to take my photo in her shop (heck, while I’m having a good hair day)…so I’m calling it “Hair Salon Diaries.” 🙂 The last time was here and quite a few of you bought the Birdies I was wearing…how do you like them? Aren’t they great?
Today, I’m showing these fun neutral cargo pants (they are mid-rise skinny cargo chinos) with some stretch to make them comfortable and flattering. They are on sale now! I got a petite size but they come in regular and other colors, too. I rolled the hem a bit to show the ankle.
Black non-iron button-down shirt (half price)• sunglasses • cheap real leather Apple watch band • basic denim jacket that I’ve had for years • camo pants • everyday lipstick • basic black belt • crossbody purse is sold out but the all-white one is cute, well-made and on sale • comfortable sneakers by Madewell
Pillow Hoarding
I have a confession to make…but you probably already know about my pillow obsession? It’s a fun way to change your decor by rotating things…like I did here in our foyer. Nothing is new here except the combination.
The striped pillow on the left can be found here in a 22″ square. And the other two are no longer available (Liana made the middle paisley one) and Restoration Hardware made the lumbar. I bought the black and white African mudcloth at a flea market years ago. Etsy is a good source, too.
Here’s my partial stash. I keep them folded here (and in some other closets). But I have been known to give some away like to my family.
Dried Flower Trend
I saw a lot of dried flower arrangements in Paris a couple of years ago…and lately everywhere. This pretty arrangement while in Pottery Barn caught my eye.
This feels like a look that you could start incorporating for Fall.

Fall At Pottery Barn
When I asked how people feel about Fall décor already (yes or no) on Instagram it was 50/50. Fall is one of the best times of year here in San Francisco, but I can wait until at least September. I like these faux white sunflowers and the earthenware vase.
Before and After’s On Instagram
Who doesn’t love a good before and after shot?
Let’s check out what Cindy and Annie have for us today!
Pillow hoarder! I don’t think that is true, you can never have enough pillows to add character to a space! Love these houses! It is amazing to see some of the before and afters! Happy Weekend, almost.
Happy weekend to you, Elizabeth!
I think I should be drying all of the hydrangeas I have. I am embarrassed to share my pillow stash! You look adorable in those pants!
I have more pillows in the guest room closet and above the armoire in my bedroom!
Mary Ann
Your pillow collection brought a smile/chuckle. I have had to put the breaks on my own pillow buying, but there are so many pretty choices and they’re truly so reasonable for the punch they add to a room, right?
I really liked your outfit.
Have a wonderful week. I always look forward to reading what you, Annie and Cindy have to share.
xo,
Karen
Thanks, Karen! I’ve put the breaks on my pillow buying!
Hi Mary Ann! I love those cargo pants!! The link doesn’t work for me – it says it is malformed…? I have a pillow problem too! I seem to be able to get rid of stuff fairly easily, with the exception of pillows and books!
I just checked the links, Brenda and they are working for me. Thanks!
I love how that third house became the belle of the ball!
I also love how you mix and match pillows in your spaces. It’s beautiful to have three complementary pillows and they don’t have to be the same! Love it.
I do love playing with pillow combos!
Love the before and after house shots…that is the look I am going for whenever we get around to remodeling. White with black casement windows. Dying over the first one!
I am going to show my husband your pillow/pillow cover stash. He always kids me about my pillow collection. Even my 4 year old granddaughter said something one day when she was over. I hadn’t made the bed yet and the pillows and shams were piled on the couch. (where they go every night before bed) She said”grandma are those all your pillows”? I just purchased 3 more covers last week. Shhhh….
Linda
oh well, Linda, its a fairly harmless obsession!
Most of transformations are great, but the last one worries me, was the original foundation is made for extra additional 2 stories? It could spell foundation problem in the future.
Hi Mary Ann,
Do you have a recommendation for good, quality pillow inserts? I need some for a few Euro shams.
Thank you, Karyn
Mary Ann: Those last two “before and afters” are amazing. Thanks for including them–very inspiring!
Omg, so good to know I am not the only one hoarding throw pillows! I feel I have to sneak them in the house because my husband always says, “More pillows!?” I do reuse a lot of them by season (or pass them on to family or donation centers). Home Goods is my favorite shopping spot but sometimes I have good finds at Target too. I’d say throws come in second on my list of decor shopping addictions. So much bang for the buck.
Love your hair color and style in that pic!
I ordered the watch band, but in leopard, since it’s a fave of mine. Thanks for all your terrific suggestions!
I would love your ideas for good walking shoes – we’re headed to Greece in a month or so, and I know good, sturdy shoes are a must.
Those Madewell sneakers are really comfortable!
Love the before and after, especially using the garden/patio
I know, me too, Carol.
Those houses are wonderful. All it seems to take is someone with a really good creative eye to see the updating possibilities! Thanks for sharing Great ideas should not be under a basket,no matter how nice the basket! Love the white sunflowers too!
Thanks, Susan!
Mary Ann, I love your mix of textiles on your entryway bench! And I love dried flowers. I think you’re right that they so perfectly fall.
