New Christmasy Embellishments

I’ve been “playing house” with  some new additions to our Christmas decorations.
A plain nursery wreath looks a little more festive with the addition of some ornaments
and then hung on a mirror.
The kitchen rooster gets spruced up with a preserved boxwood wreath, a gift from our
recent house guests.  Which reminds me of another gift they gave us
(my mind never goes in a straight line)…
Clair painted the pretty artwork of the girl on the bike.
I love the colors and the charming theme
(this is a place where everyone rides their bike to the beach).
Debbie and I have been busy working on jeweled Christmas trees.   We started with cardboard cones from Michaels and glued on charms with jewelry glue.

It fun to use some meaningful charms that my friend, Laura gave me along with vintage pieces from Ebay.
Can you find…

the Boston Terrier, Tour Eiffel and True Friendship charms?

The Michelin Man? There’s lots more.  This will be a special keepsake.

Any new little touches to YOUR décor this year?

  1. Beautiful jeweled tree. (A family keepsake for sure.) I saw some trees made from brooches at a gift shop in Corona Del Mar, Ca which were priced between $600 -$1200. (Yikes!) Homemade is so much better. Especially when you can make it with items that are meaningful to you and your family.

  2. Your jewelled tree looks perfect in the silver forest. I'm going to have to try one – i would make a wonderful family Christmas heirloom.
My kitchen rooster is complaining – I only hung a little bell around his neck for Christmas!.
May the peace and joy of Christmas be with you and your family in 2012.

  21. I'm not crafty either — but that jeweled tree looks possible, and so chic.

  22. What fun to make the tree, and it's sooo cute.

  23. Your bejeweled trees look like the ones I found in a shop that I posted about last month. I ♥♥ them! If only I had some dazzles, I'd make me a couple. I need to get back to that little store!

  27. Mary Ann, I adore your bejeweled tree! I recently saw a framed jewel tree also – so pretty. Hope you are enjoying "playing house" this Christmas!

  28. The jewelry tree! My aunt had one she made years ago, she's passed now, from all of her gaudy, costume jewelry. I loved it back then and have been saving odd piecs of jewelry ever since. I have single earrings, dated button covers, etc. I'd forgotten all about it. Maybe I'll get out the glue gun and make one too. I'm so glad you reminded me of that beautiful little tree.

  29. Your jewel tree is beautiful and your spruced up wreath looks great. I'm sure your family will all have a fabulous Christmas in your lovely home. x Sharon

  30. I am completely smitten with that jeweled tree! So different. That seems to me the perfect project for the winter — one to work on for next year's decorating. I really love that. Thank you for the inspiration. Totally special. Hope you are having a good season!

  31. Beautiful additions and the tree is stunning!! I loved seeing your work at Classic Chic Home today. Your space is gorgeous.

  32. What a fun idea for a special addition to your holiday decor…I've never seen anything like that but it's so pretty! And I really love that painting that your neighbor did – that's really cool. I also like the small boxwood wreath as well.

  33. So pretty, everytime I see one of these trees or a wreath done in the costume jewelry I say I need to make one with my Mom, she has an amazing colleciton and it would be such a fun project to do with her! Yours is so pretty and sparkly. Yes, I did add something new this year. I usually try something new in my dining room every year so this year I did an angel wing theme, I love the all white ethereal look. I will be posting it this week!!
    Merry Christmas to YOU!!

  35. Your trees are fabulous and I love the little wreath on the rooster. The embellished tree is gorgeous. What a creative idea, I love it and yes I could find the special pieces you mentioned. How fun is this. Thanks for visiting and you always leave the best comments. Yes, you are right, I am so Blessed to have all the family here this year. I hope you have a wonderful Christmas with all your family and friends. Hugs, Marty

  36. I love the trees; I added mercury glass and mirrored trees to my Christmas decor this year. Now I may have to bejewel one of them. The painting is lovely and such a wonderful gift. I just finished trimming my 10ft tree (real, of course). It took me five days this year. I love doing it, but it is taking longer in my dotage, so I may have to go shorter next year. Enjoy the weekend.
    Best…Victoria

  37. I love the little painting. That is a very special gift.
