As one of ten bloggers selected for the High Point Market Design Bloggers Tour, I wasn’t sure what to expect. It was my first time. It’s exciting and enormous (several blocks wide with huge buildings)! I LOVED IT. We were smoothly guided through it all by Adam Japko and his team from Esteem Media. All the home interior vendors proudly have their latest and best on display. I have identified ten trends and styles to explore right now.
Since there is a lot to take in, here are four trends and styles now.
- Color Spring Summer 2018
- Stylish Little Drink Tables

Soft Rugs That Help the Environment
Ever wonder where all those plastic bottles in the recycling bin are going? Karastan is using them to make silky soft, durable, stain resistant rugs. This American company is celebrating its 90th birthday…and they had a 1920’s themed cocktail party for our Design Bloggers group! Thank you, Karastan!
Creative With Cowhide
Love the stitching on these versatile cubes!Bernhardt
Exquisite Rugs designs and creates all these interesting patterns from cowhide. Great quality, too! I want to get a neutral one for myself (to layer over our seagrass rug)…but which pattern do you think? Such a huge selection.

Upcoming posts will identify other fun trends from the High Point Market Design Bloggers Tour. Some may surprise you. Like I saw a lot of richly stained dark and natural wood. It’s back or it never left! But its still mixed with metal and painted finishes. It’s important to keep your home fresh but YOU. Feels great to come home to my little classically, casual home and I’m fully energized by all the creativity I saw!
Thanks for visiting.

Hi Mary Ann,
I can’t find your Blog anymore! I keep getting a blank page. Did you stop your Blog?! Hope this “error” problem gets fixed soon. Eoor msg makes it look like you moved your Blog. Thanks for looking into this. Your designs are so usable and affordable for most of us…thanks for that.

What a fabulous experience and they couldn’t have chosen a more deserving blogger to go to the High Point Show. Looks like you saw lots of beautiful, inspiring decor pieces.
And I must agree with Debra, you’re all those things and more.
Thanks for sharing, I can’t wait to see more.

I’ve been seeing lots of small drink tables…maybe not quite as small as you have pictured here..and love them! So perfect, easy to move and also easy to store away. It reminds me of the nested tables my Mother, and Grandmother, always had! But of course those were a heavy, dark wood, probably mahogany; now it’s time for some light, fun textures. Thanks for showing and sharing.
I totally agree, Libby!
Thank you so much for the tour. So fun to see it through your eyes.
Thanks, Kathysue!
Love the coral Karastan rug… I could use in my entry to “Spice” it up and not worry about it getting dirty.
Thanks!
Yes, Stephanie, and its soft on bare feet, too.
Hi Mary Ann
as one who had the opportunity to pal around with you & Cindy, I want to tell your readers how smart, hysterically funny, & clever you are. I know, it comes thru on your blog but in person readers, this gal is smashing!
Enough of that, loving seeing High Point thru your eyes and look forward to many more posts on this topic!
I like the neutral cowhide and on top of a jute or sisal rug is a great idea
xo
Debra
I loved spending time with you, Debra! Hope to see you soon!!!

There seems to be a lot of strong black and white graphics either as the main decor item (the warning-sign-needed striped black and white wallpaper, which brings on nausea for some people), or the black and white trellis pattern behind the lovely coral sofa (Rowe Furniture) and other examples above. I wonder how much of this will trickle down to being featured in real homes. This is just an observation, not a criticism!
Thank you for photographing and sharing! Your blog is one of the best!!!
Lynn, I think it’s like Vogue magazine…drama that makes it fun. But everything in moderation. 🙂 I think those little tables will definitely be seen more and the colors…and good for the environment products.
Yes to the warning signs! Those stripes can cause seizures in some people. Lucky for me, it’s only migraines, but I’ve learned to look away. Hoping the high contrast trend is a passing one.
