Welcome to Our Fall Front Doors and Table Settings!

October 11, 2018 By Mary Ann Pickett 21 Comments

Hello! It’s feeling like fall here in San Francisco…the best time of the year!  A warm welcome to another Project Design where Annie, Cindy and I have invited some top-notch décor bloggers to inspire us with their Fall Front Doors and Table Settings: Jane and Home, Sheila from Maison de Cinq and Melaine from My Sweet Savannah.

Quilt as a Tablecloth

This year, I used the quilt that my husband brought back for me from a business trip to India (he asked what I wanted and he nailed it!). Similar one on Etsy.

Blue, Orange and Green Fall Table Setting

Pumpkin Bowls

I used my pumpkin bowls that my mom bought for us while we were living in Paris 18 years ago. I have used them every Fall since and think of that happy time. Pottery Barn has some similar ones.

Napkins

Overstock has the green hemstitched linen napkins in lots of colors. I loaded my white soup tureen with lots of hydrangeas using a floral foam block.

Plates and Party Favors

The beautiful glazed blue plates and marble candle holders are from World Market…so are the candles. I always love to have party favors that can be used as place setting tags, too. We are on the cable car line (ding ding ding). Ghirardelli Square is just down the hill…plus those are my husband’s favorite chocolates.

Ghirardelli Chocolates as Party favors

We don’t have much curb appeal outside the front door of our apartment (but good views make up for it).  So Chief (see if you can spot him) and I decorated our elevator landing. The wreath is live from the S.F. Flower Mart. The pumpkins and mums were $5.99 each at Trader Joe’s.

Thank you so much for visiting our corner of the world.

Of course, I adore your table setting. I don’t really think of blue as being a fall color but the way you’ve used it is stunning. The tin box of chocolates as favor/placecards is genius. Every detail is perfect and makes for a beautiful fall table for a fun get together.

Beautiful! I love seeing all of the creative ways that you incorporate your favorite things in your tablescape. The color blue is unexpected but gorgeous and a favorite of many. I also love the chocolate favors a little touch of your home town. That is a great idea. In my neck of the woods I would have peanut favors!

Thank you for putting together another great group of talented ladies. It was a pleasure to be a part of one of your groups and helped me to discover so many new blogs.

    Have a great weekend.

Oh, my, gosh! I sooooo love this setting of colors and pieces! My husband, on the other hand, cringes when he hears me ‘yelping’ at your latest, gorgeous settings. It set him back a pretty penny for the white, and brown chargers, the little wire baskets with glass inserts, the pottery barn voltive candles to go with last Thanksgiving…and I could go on, but you get the idea. You are MY FAV TABLE DESIGNER! Of course, when everybody salavates wishing they could set such an awesome table when they come over for the holidays, he acts like it was his doing….I guess it was…him and his american express, ha,ha! But seriously, your table settings are so charming in an unexpected way with unexpected pieces, colors, flowers and display arrangements. You are sooooo talented! I just came back from San Fran with my daughter. It was lovely…the weather was great. She lives in a 1926 apartment in an historic district and loves it. 12 ft. ceilings-whats not to love! Your apartment looks so liveable despite its designer touches and love little Chief. Enormously love your table settings! Au Revoir!

Your fall table setting is so beautiful and I love how you used blue as the base color. Usually I don’t think of blue when I think of fall colors but boy, it sure works! And you’ve certainly made your hall entry a welcoming place! I really enjoyed all the bloggers and their own fall inspired tables.

Mary Ann I love this table! The orange pumpkins look great with the Indian quilt (great job from your hubby;)) and can I say I’m absolutely in love with that wreath!!

Thanks again for inviting me, I’ve loved “hopping” with all of you!

Mary Ann-I love every detail and the colors! Your little chocolate party favors could not be more perfect for your exact SF location. I sure wish one of them had my name attached to it!

I love the blues! It’s so interesting to use a quilt–in Michelin star restaurants, the tables are covered with thick pads beneath the tablecloths, to deaden the noise. The only thing to watch out for is that the wine glasses aren’t so tall that they get tipsy on the soft surface. It would be a shame to ruin such a beautiful quilt with a wine spill. I see you took care of that by using stemless glasses (which pick up on the pumpkin color wonderfully).
A 100-year-old high-rise in SF!!! I wonder whether it replaced something felled by the earthquake of 1906, or whether it was just part of the city pushing out its boundaries. I love old places. Your entry is so charming. That glass doorknob!!! Swoon!

Yes…this building probably was built after the earthquake. It was in a couple Film Noir movies, too. The quilt is actually pretty thin. We have all glass doorknobs…I like them, too.

Your table is so gorgeous, you could serve hot dogs and it would be a perfect dinner party. How many hours does it take you to set a table like this? Of course it really is an inspiration! Love the new way of handling the napkins.
