If you want to come to San Francisco…you should come now! It’s gorgeous and there are so many fun things to do for a fall weekend in San Francisco.
This is the view from where I type! Notice no fog 🙂 ? Yay!
On Friday, (Fleet Week) the Blue Angels arrived… (view from the kitchen).
On Saturday, our friends, JoAnn and Larry came with us on a San Francisco Walking Tour of Chinatown (I’ve also done the Japanese Tea Garden…and want to do them all). It’s free by volunteers (donation recommended).
Nancy, our guide…was amazing. It was such a bad week with the political climate. But as we went through the streets of Chinatown, Nancy asked us to open our hearts to different points of view. She said that we all have more similarities than not. She was talking about the Chinese culture but the message was reassuring. This is a calming temple that we visited.
We worked up an appetite and had reservations at China Live. A cool place you should try…
Get the soup dumplings and blistered green beans!
On Sunday, I got up early and went to the Alameda Point Antiques Faire held on the first Sunday of the month. You can see downtown SF in the background.
Loved these brass African bells used for dancing.
And these simple and pretty French Fall table settings by Elsie Green.
The linen napkins look so fresh with the vintage items.
Some great Indian textile printed pillows
I bought some African bone beads (since I’m always using mine to style client’s homes). They are from Kenya.
And I was back in time to watch the Blue Angels from our dining room again…
It was a great Fall Weekend in San Francisco! Chief wants you to come back on Thursday to see what we did, along with five other friends for “Project Design Welcoming Fall Front Doors and Table Settings.” In my case, it’s mostly my table setting using blue, green and orange…and with existing and new, fresh but reasonably priced items.    It’s my birthday today and my family bought me a Kindle Paperwhite from Amazon with a cute case and gift card!…so I am taking the day off to figure it out and do some reading! Got any book recommendations?
Have an awesome week and see you Thursday!
Mary Ann

Thanks for the walking tour recommendations, we will be visiting San Francisco in for Christmas , our second visit this year, we Aussies love the US., Our son and daughter in law recently purchased a three bedroom apartment on Broadway (just above Van Ess) they have a view of the Golden Gate, a lot further away than your amazing view.
Our other son, daughter in law and two granddaughters (from Sydney) will be joining us for our first Christmas together for some years.
We sure had a fun time visiting Sydney! Wow…a three bedroom apartment on Broadway…how nice!! What a great Christmas you will have.So many places you can walk to. Howard and I just had a great dinner at Pearl on California…also at Tartine Manufactury. Have you seen my Bay Area Pinterest board for other ideas?
Thanks Maryanne, will check out your Pinterest board, when we visited earlier in the year we enjoyed St Franks, Bluebottle and Jane for coffee (we Aussies love our coffee). Love your city.
I love those places, too. St. Frank’s is in my neighborhood.
Happy Birthday to you!

Mary Ann – I’m so excited to find your blog!! Came across it via Sherry Hart’s blog…which I stumbled across a month ago.
We live in Durham, CA ( next door to Chico) a small community, that we found an acre to build our house on 20 years ago. Do you know where Chico is…??
I love to decorate, but I’m NOT a professional. I am so trying to update our home myself….it’s a challenge!! Your blog and others are helpful…thank you for posting!
Don’t you love Sherry Hart?? Wow…an acre in California. Lucky you! My cousin (who I am visiting soon in NJ) went to nursing school at Chico. Thanks for commenting, Patty.
Happy Birthday! Have a wonderful day! And another wonderful place to visit if you are in SF, check out the Walt Disney Family museum, located in the Prisideo!
Good advice! Love that museum.
Happy Birthday, beautiful Mary Ann! Hope you’re having a wonderful day. I’ve been dying to visit SF for ages now and with your fun recommendations of things to do, makes me want to go even more. The flea market looks like a must see so I’ll have to plan a trip according to its schedule! I got chills just watching your video of the blue angels. You have a fabulous view right from your living room.
I have a Kindle Paperwhite and I LOVE it! Haven’t read anything great recently, sorry.
Have a wonderful birthday!
Love,
Gail
