Seven Fabulous Things For Fall

October 23, 2018 By Mary Ann Pickett 19 Comments

Here are some fabulous things for Fall that you may love, too. Like this super, soft cotton cape that Lisa gave to me for my birthday (it’s reversible).

Chic Wrap

I wore it out to dinner on Friday night (nice weight for Fall evenings) and will take it on the airplane with me on my next upcoming trip.

New Design Book

Netta gave me the new Suzanne Kasler book, Sophisticated Simplicity (how did she know it was on my Amazon Wish List?) I spent a lazy Saturday afternoon perusing it.

Washable Quilts

The last time I bought new bed linens (except for sheets) was over six years ago. So, these new, white quilted linen and soft cotton paisley quilts from Serena and Lily feel great! The fabric is super nice. You can buy them online and there is 20% off all bedding right now. But I am going to let you in on a little secret. We have a Serena and Lily outlet in Berkeley, CA that sells their returns at a discount! I just had to wash both quilts (I would have anyway).

Personalized Leather Dog Collar

I took Chief down to the beach for a photo shoot. He’s going to be in for a coffee table book about dogs. He has a leather engraved collar from Amazon. It’s great since when he had a metal, loose tag, he didn’t like the clanging it made against his water bowl.

Space Saving Nylon Packing Pouches

I’m packing to go to Florida and New York (different climes) for over a week. Trust me, you will love these Pro-packing cubes from Amazon. They are very lightweight and organize your things to make it so that much more fits in your suitcase. Plus, they aren’t very expensive.

Stylish Leopard Bag

My sweet husband got me the leopard purse that I wanted from my Fall Fashion Post. For a small bag (8″ x 10″), it can hold a lot (including my phone, not shown).  The cross strap is great when I’m on the go…I’m taking it on my trip.

Easy To Order Online Photo Prints

A few weeks ago, I was helping a client with her accessories and noticed that all of her framed photos were of her twenty-something-year-old kids as babies (which is fine). But I asked her if she had any recent ones (graduations, weddings, vacation, etc.). Then, I got home and realized basically ALL my framed photos were really old, too. So, I switched these in my bedroom to some from our summer vacation by ordering prints online with Shutterfly. It’s easy…I may change them again in a few years.

We saw “A Star is Born” at the movies on Sunday. We went shopping afterward and when I caught my reflection in a mirror, I saw that I had mascara all down my face! Embarrassing. I want to download the music from it.

Check out my Instagram for news about my Florida and Northeast travels. Thanks for stopping by.

Beautiful bedroom! I too purchased the same coverlet and just love it! The photo of your living room shows a woven tray with a mirrored insert (looks that way, anyways). Would you mind sharing your source? Thank you, I love your clean style😊

Thanks so much, Carm. The tray is from Homegoods. Whenever I see a tray that I like there I try to pick it up!

As an East Bay girl, I’m ashamed I’ve never been to the Serena and Lily outlet in Berkeley. I’ll remedy that when I visit next month. Where did you get those wonderful frames?

You always share such great “finds” and I want them all. I could relate to your mascara smeared face after seeing A Star Is Born, I had the same issue. Loved the movie and the music is terrific! Have a great time in FL.

Hi Mary Ann, Love your cape…I purchased a similar one from Eileen Fisher. Lucky you that you can wear yours already…too hot here in San Diego! I also ordered the new Suzanne Kasler book, I just love her taste!
I do have a question (off topic) regarding your gorgeous Fiddle Leaf. I think quite awhile back you mentioned how you water yours…mine was doing great for about 5 months but then in the last week it just dropped a bunch of leaves off the bottom. I think I have been underwatering it because when it got hot I didn’t step up the watering. Just curious what your method is?? Thanks!

Love the cape and agree the color is very flattering. Love the leopard, of course! So Chief has become the new “A Star is Born”. Love it—always knew he had the ‘It” look—must the the glamorous mashup of so-cal+no-cal life he leads. Funny that he was offended by the noise of his bangling collar! Such an artistic, sensitive guy. Be sure to let us know when his book is available.

I’m going to wear it on the airplane today…LAX to Orlando. Next time I am in LA I really want to get together with you. This was just a quick trip.

They were from Pottery Barn 15 years ago. Sorry. That’s what I like about PB tho…inexpensive and becomes unique after a while. Thanks, Amy.

Love that cape! I ordered it! But I much prefer the way you are wearing it than the way it looks on the model. I too saw a Star Is Born, loved it, cried my eyes out and then went home and downloaded the music which I now can’t get out of my head.

It will be perfect for you, Celia. I sent my husband your travel tips (he is in the industry) and I saw that he actually printed it out! You are so good.

I love the S & L outlet in Berkeley! I always try to make a stop there when I come to visit my dear friend in Moraga. My favorite sheets and bedding are S & L! I love your beautiful bedding selections.
