Gail was one of my blog’s
first followers and is a dear friend now.
Recently, she and I shopped for blue and white china. She bought the
bowl on the mantel and is going to add a plant or moss to it and a couple more jars.
At lunch, she gave me this prettily wrapped present.
Inside was a framed water color
that she painted of our dog, Rocky.
Rocky died a couple of months ago in his sleep of old age. Gail copied his face from a photo on my blog and researched images of younger Boston Terriers to take him back to his prime.
I love this painting.
I helped Gail with the décor of her blue and white living room
and posted about it HERE.
She personally refinished the bamboo chair,
darkened the round mirror and
even monogrammed the “S” on the chair herself.
Gail did the finish on this piece, too.
All this and she is an artist, too!
I want her to start her own blog.
(Thank you and happy birthday, Gail!)
Friendship…one of the best things about blogging.
Finding gifts for old people can be difficult. I was lucky to discover Gramps Gifts recently, where they have a lot of cool gifts for old folks!
I have tears, that is the sweetest gift ever!
I couldn't agree more! What a fantastic artist Gail is, and how lovely that you two have created this friendship through blogging!
What a wonderful tribute to your friend. Great post!

What a sweet gift, I imagine it warms your heart each time you see your sweet dog's face. I remember your post about Gail's house, it looks great. She does a wonderful job of refinishing furniture.

Hi Mary Ann,
We had to put our sick dog down recently and I know that must have been so hard to lose your dear companion. It's friends like Gail that make all the difference in life. Friends and family. What a talented friend, and a sweet reminder of Roxy
Take care,
Barbara

What a sweet and beautiful and so thoughtful gift…blogging really has made the world seem smaller. We would have never met had it not been our blogs even though we lived (until last year) only about 30 minutes apart. Love all the details in her home….I think Gail does need a blog!

So sorry about Rocky … I have three dogs and I know full well how special they are! Blog friendships are wonderful. My husband calls us "modern day pen pals!" he might have a point. My blogging has been fun, inspirational, and the ability to connect with like minds and different minds … to create a wonderful circle of friends!! xo

What a great gift! And I love Gail's room too!
Have a great day.

I loved the picture of Rocky. I lost my beloved Boston, Sophie, a yr ago. I still have my Boston,Rosie, who was born blind. She is a loving and wonderful companion.
That is a great painting and such a special gift.
I'm so sorry about Rocky, but for him to have passed in his sleep from old age is a true blessing. He lived a great life. We have a 14-year-old dog with a tumor that isn't affecting her health or happiness right now, but we know what lies ahead and we're dreading it. The painting Gail did is amazing, and what a beautiful gift from the heart. Just lovely! Yes, she should start her own blog, for sure.

Wow Gail is one talented lady!! Is there anything she can't do? I love personal gifts like the beautifully wrapped gift she gave you, how thoughtful! You know she put a lot of love and thought into such a gift.
What a sweet thing for Gail to do give you a picture of someone you loved Rocky looks amazing. Gail's home looks wonderful too and how brave of her to go after a piece of furniture and make it her own. She's so talented she should start a blog!

Mary Ann I agree your friend Gail is very talented. What a sweet, thoughtful gift. I can only imagine how wonderful that image of Roxy makes you feel every time you look at it. Gail did an amazing job. If I have a vote, I think Gail should be a blogger too, it sounds as if she has a lot to share. Friendships made in blogland are so hard for those that don't blog to understand. It is like being in a huge room full of like minded people, people that never get tired of talking about design and beauty. Who knew there were so many of us!!?
Happy St. Patricks Day,
xo Kathysue
Gail definitely needs to start her own bolg. She is really talented, and obviously sweet. I love her home, and the portrait of your dog.
Wow, she is talented! The painitng of your doggie is fabulous and I'm sure just like him. I'm so sorry for his passing, it's still fresh and sad. Our 13 year old pug-Ben died from a kidney problem derived from old age too..around 2 1/2 years ago and I miss him til now! I also have a painting I had done of Ben, by a famous artist and friend from around here. I love your pretty mantel and vignettes. Have a happy week.
