Have you ever gone to buy a beauty product that you are happy with but get talked into buying something else only to think “why did I let that salesperson do to that to me?” Well, below are Beauty Products That Really Work!
That is not to say I don’t like new recommendations!!! In fact, in this latest Project Design (except this isn’t really about design), we asked these beautiful bloggers about products that really work for them: Annie, Most Lovely Things, Brenda, Brenda Kinsel, Cindy, Rough Luxe Lifestyle and Kristy & Beth, Design Chic.
So, be sure to click on their links at the end of the post.
I only like to spend about six minutes on make-up in the morning! These are my essentials for every day. 1. Tinted Moisturizer This evens out skin tone and has SPF. 2.Weightless Foundation Powder Great for your nose and covering any spots (yeah like age spots). 3. Retouching Wand I LOVE this and use it as all around eye concealer especially if the lower rims of my eyes are red. I tried to buy it recently at Sephora and they don’t carry it anymore! But you can get it with my link at Macy’s. 4. Benefit Goof Proof Eyebrow Pencil Something about the angle makes it so easy to quickly apply! And you don’t have to sharpen it. I will not let a salesperson talk me out of this one again! 5. Benefit Bad Girl Mascara This really is awesome mascara! Buy the travel size just to see if you don’t believe me 🙂 I just use it on my top lashes. 6. 24 Hour Super Stay Lip Color I keep coming back to this drugstore brand since it works (we lose lip pigment as we age–so this is important even if you don’t wear any other makeup). I like medium pinky-peach-rose colors with my skin tone. 7. Two Faced Natural Bronzer I use this in place of blush…a little on the forehead, cheeks, and jawline will wake up your face! 8. Maybelline Matte Lipstick This is in my purse for a quick touch-up.
Basically, at my age, my skin needs to be exfoliated and hydrated well (for a bit of a glow)…that’s the best blank slate before any of the above makeup.
1. Caudalíe Rich Face Cream A friend that was with us on our recent trip to Provence said you could get this brand in the pharmacies in France (so I purchased this for less there and am glad I did). But you can get it here too. I use this at night…feels great. 2. Jurlique Skin Balancing Face Oil I had a facial in Phoenix, Arizona and it’s so dry there! The technician recommended this oil and I like it…it seeps right in in the morning and if I have any left on my hands, I smooth it on my hair (two for one 🙂 3. Daily Moisturizer With SPF…my husband and I both use this. 4. Clarisonic Mia 1 I keep this in the shower to regularly wash/exfoliate my face. 5. Healing Lotion with Vitamins Works great, especially on feet and hands.
1. Make-up removal wipes The best. You can buy in bulk at Costco, too 2. Sonicare Electric Toothbrush My dentist actually mentioned how clean my teeth were! 3. Finishing Hair Mist 4. Crest White Strips What are you waiting for?
5. Bond Street Washington Square Perfume A gift from my husband. I LOVE it but it just keeps going up in price so I save it for special occasions like a date night.
That’s all the Beauty Products That Really Work for me! Can’t WAIT to read what these other influential ladies recommend.

I love the feeling that I just sneaked into your bathroom and scoped out all your beauty products! Thanks so much for sharing the details. You always look radiant to me and I always marvel at your beautiful, gleaming teeth. Crest white stripes, you are at the top of my list to buy!

I now think I must try Benefit mascara! It seems to be the mascara of choice now and I’m always on the hunt for something new. Happy weekend, Mary Ann!!

Thanks so much for your recommendations! We use a lot of the same products. I just wish I could do the makeup as quick as you! And the mascara… the bomb! I also agree on the skin care being first and foremost. I have very dry skin so I use a creamy cleanser, moisturizer and serum. Every morning and night. I exfoliate 2X per week with a product by Aveeno which is super easy on the skin.
I can’t believe I lost touch with you…we were long time followers! I’d love to catch up!

Oh goodie, I love these kinds of tips. I’m always looking for a new mascara. Never found the Holy Grail of mascaras. I do use the sonicare. It’s save my mouth. I use the neutragena when I’m traveling or lazy. Haven’t tried Julique but I can see some buying going on.

I love recommendations from people who I actually trust and who buy and use the products. So much more reliable than someone who gets it for free and might never use it again. I can;t wait to try the mascara.
Mary Ann says
Yes, Elizabeth…I WISH I could get more of these for free (like perfume and face creams)…but these are the ones I know that work, at least for me and so I’m loyal! Thanks for your comment.

I have been waffling at investing in the clarisonic. We need to chat about that! That mascara is a winner. Thanks for introducing Annie and I to it. I don’t know why anyone would ever buy anything larger than a travel size in mascara. I haven’t tried the gold bond lotion. I am always on the lookout for a good one!

Cindy, don’t waffle on the Clarisonic. I’ve been using it for years, and it does an amazing job! I use it to remove my makeup every night, and only use the brushes for sensitive skin (I think they now have more than one for sensitive skin; I don’t think I buy the softest one, but I know I also don’t buy the regular brush). I’ve heard from others (and agree) that the “regular” brushes are a bit rough. If I had to do it again, I might buy the travel size since I do find I miss having it when I travel.
Mary Ann says
My brush is pretty soft and the facialist said not to overdo the scrubbing. I think I would like a travel size too.
Mary Ann says
Look what Catherine said to you Cindy…that you should buy the clarisonic! I am lucky that I got if from my sister and brother for Christmas… but now that I have been using it…I would definitely buy it.

You are so funny, Debra! My hairstylists used that dryer yesterday and it’s so quick. The Caudalie isn’t cheap even in France (around 100 euros) but better than here.
