On Wednesday, I drove forty minutes from
San Francisco to my client, Dana’s home in Walnut Creek.
The temperature was in the
low sixties in SF and close to 90 degrees in Walnut Creek.
Seeing the cool greens and blues in
Dana’s new living room was refreshing and calming.
This was a garage sale find of Dana’s.
The foam seat had turned rock hard.
Now it’s a soft place to sit and have a drink.
Can you see how the piping on the pillow
is the same fabric as the seat material?
Here is the matching ottoman before…
Since no one ever sat in the living room,
the sofas were in good shape,
just a bit drab and dated. So, we recovered them…
in a neutral Anna French oatmeal linen,
with the skirts removed and
with the skirts removed and
new legs added. We also and changed arms.
These are the soft colors that Dana loves…
and are reflected in the pool beyond the window.
This corner was one of the first things I did for Dana using
things she already owned. Which is the way I like to accessorize…
then just add pieces to update like…
these pillows…
Liana made the beautiful pillows for us.

And in the adjacent dining room
we made a few changes, too.
we made a few changes, too.
We used an aqua and tan Greek Key print
to recover and update the dining chairs.
The gold walls were painted
Benjamin Moore Bleeker Beige.
We hung the mirror vertically and
brought out more of Dana’s collections.
(I’m encouraging her to buy more transferware
on her travels so we can expand the vignette).
It all started out like this…
To this…
Dana, your husband has his “man-land”, the kids have the family room
…now this is YOUR room!
Invite your mom, sisters and the rest of the Walnut Creek ladies over to break it in.
Thanks for visiting.
