Recently, while on vacation in Paris, my daughter Alie and I were invited to attend

Front door of our apartment rental |
a soirée organized by Genie of Paris and Beyond.
The guests specialize in photographing and writing about Paris… an impressive, international and nice group. |
Genie and I are the two in the back center (I love being taller than Genie). Alie took the photo
with my absurdly tiny “Point and Shoot” (you should see THEIR cameras).
But MINE fits in my pocket.
with my absurdly tiny “Point and Shoot” (you should see THEIR cameras).
But MINE fits in my pocket.
The view from Genie’s apartment of a church in the first arrondissement.
So, what were Alie and I doing at the photographers’ party?
…just the common love of Paris and blogging, I guess.
Check out Genie’s site for beautiful images of Paris.
IMPORTANT TIP: While at the party, Peter from Peter’s Paris
explained how one morning he woke up and his blog of four years had vanished.
It was impossible to get an answer from Google.
Fortunately, the next day it returned. But he found a solution to backing up his
beautiful work with hard copies from Shared Book. I have tried it and it is simple.
Finally, some typical Haussmannian apartment details
that I just love (from our Haven In Paris rental).
Herringbone oak floors and wrought iron balconies.
Carved marble mantel
Louis Chairs
gilded antique mirror (son relaxing in background)
Pedestal table with (French museum books)
See the complete interior of the apartment HERE.
My thoughtful friend, John thought I would enjoy “Parisian Chic, A Style Guide.”
He was right! Thanks, John. I agree with just about everything Ines says.
She gives advice on fashion, entertaining, home décor and places to go in Paris.

One of her fashion tips: invest in classics and good accessories…
such as these Roger Vivier shoes (my daughter scored these for me
when she interned for the company).
The “Universal Rule” wear full pants and skirts with tight-fitting tops and tight trousers
and skirts with loose-fitting tops. You knew this, right?
But there are way more fun tips on how to edit your wardrobe, too.
I didn’t want to start copying all the pages…but here’s a few.
She covers many of subjects that I have in my blog
(minimize clutter, reflect your personality, fresh fruit and flower accessories, etc.)
only in a funnier French amie sort of way.
I will pick this book up routinely just for fun.
Pretty timeless and trés chic.

Where do I begin? The details in the apartment are exquisite; how fun to meet with other bloggers who love of Paris; great tip on backing up a blog (have to check that out); your shoes are fab; oh goodness I'm sure I missed something…OH! the book – what great tips and I need to find out about ordering a copy of Parisian Chic. Thanks for ALL the fabulous info today!!!
gorgeous details!
Rene
Oh my gosh that is important to note, Mona.
Love all the apartment details. gorgeous, particularly that mirror! I think I could use that book too! One more thing to think about with your blog. I woke up to a missing blog one morning because i didn't know that my domain name was expired. They sold the name and it was a bit of a scam. It took over a week and around $600 to get it back. My blood pressure is still high over that one.
This sounds like a good book to have on the shelf – Umm! big pants – tight tops or tight pants -big tops!! I must review my wardrobe.
Great tip! And Gorgeous photos! 🙂 God I adore Paris!

Those details kill me, so so so so beauitful as only the French seem to be able to do. The simplest things from their door hardware to the detail on their wrought inron balconies!! What a great trip it looks like you had. I am going to have to get my hands on the book..at first I thought it was more of a silly little how too with now much substnace but now the more I hear about it, it really does seem to be a practical book loaded with lots of good well meaning and proven formulas…(If its good enough for the French, its good enough for me) Happy Mothers day to you!
Happy Mother's Day! I pre-ordered that book on Amazon and read it the first afternoon it arrived. So chic and witty, like you;)
OH Mary Ann this is such a great post i have to read it again! I want this book!
