Luckily for us I think, we spend quite a bit of time traveling. Whether it’s just going from San Francisco (home) to Southern California, or to one of our favorite spots like Paris or someplace new. Here are 15 Gifts Your Traveler Will Love (I know from personal experience). Also, there’s four more unique gift guides at the end of this post from some knowledgeable bloggers.

1. Pro Packing Cubes
This is my (and my husband’s) number one favorite thing. Our friends, Cathi and Eric (big travelers) told us how their kids gave them these and how they revolutionized the way they pack. Their kids are right! You will be more organized and able to fit a lot more. Plus, they aren’t that expensive and are lightweight. I just used them to go to San Diego this past weekend.
2. Away Luggage
Before we left for our trip to Provence, Howard and I bought this luggage set. We like how they are lightweight and fit inside each other to save on storage space. I love the four-wheeled maneuverability.
3. Amazon Kindle Reader
Once I was stuck on a plane with no entertainment and nothing to read (I’d even already read the in-flight magazine). WELL NO MORE thanks to this wonderful gift that my family gave me. It’s like having a great, lightweight library at your fingertips. It fits in my purse. I find I am reading more with this. And the lighting adjusts for sunlight or if you want to read in bed with the lights out. If you are an Amazon Prime member there are quite a few free books available.
Amazon Kindle Cute Kindle cover
I just downloaded a travel guide for India (a little hint about where we are going soon).
4. Airline Approved Pet Carrier with Wheels.
Chief has gotten a lot of use out of his case on the short flights from SFO to LAX and SAN.
5. “Wake-up a Travel Weary Face” Lipstick
6. Comfortable Airport and on the Plane Slip-on Shoes
Our commercial pilot friend says to never, ever use the airplane restroom in stocking feet (ick)! You need comfortable shoes for the long airport terminals and some that can slip on and off in the airplane.
Women’s Leather Vans Men’s Suede Vans
7. Zipper Topped Tote
When I travel with Chief (and at around $100 one way, his ticket can cost more than mine), I place him at my feet so that means my smaller bag needs to go in the overhead. I’ve learned that it’s a good idea to have a tote bag with a zipper so things don’t fall out like this one…
8. Cozy Scarf
Something neutral like this reversible blanket scarf is easy to pack. It provides a layer on the airplane…and a new look at your destination.
9. Nice Passport Cover
Leather Cover (monogram-able) Pretty Floral Cover
10. Personalized Luggage Tags
Make someone feel special with one of these tags. It would be nice to add some currency from the place they plan to go to (like Euros, Yen, Rupees, etc.). You can order at your local bank.
11. Neutrogena Travel Size Face Wipes (good stocking stuffers)
If you read my Beauty Products That Work For Me post you know that I like these. And it’s really convenient to have the travel size wipes.
12. quip Metal Electric Toothbrush
Ok, this is something that I would like to have as my Sonicare toothbrush is on the large size for travel. Have you heard about these streamlined toothbrushes? They come with a travel case and suction cup for the bathroom mirror.
13. Water Bottle For Travel
Don’t you hate how expensive water bottles are in the airport shops? Well, in many airports (like I just noticed in SF and San Diego), after you get through security, you can fill up your own bottle with filtered water…like one of these Simple Modern Insulated bottles from Amazon.
14. Mini Flat Iron for Your Hair
This little straightening iron from Amazon works great…my sister gave it to me. I actually use it when not on the road, too.
15. The Best Travel Neck Pillow
We had a REALLY early flight on Monday and I wished I had brought this Cabeau Memory Foam Neck Pillow with me. My sleepy head kept bobbing…so I think bringing one is worth it.

Mary Ann,
What a great list. I’ve stored some of these items on my Amazon shopping list. Thanks for the ideas.

I love your list and of course, all I can think about now is hopping on an airplane to some exotic location and yet… here I sit watching Modern Family! 🙂 Next time I travel… I will think of you! THANKS! xx

I use the Neutrogena face wipes, too. I have found I can take out of the regular sized package the amount I need for my trip, and pop them into a ziplock type sandwich bag. They stay moist and ready to use! A bit more economical that way. I have that wonderful little flat iron as well! Merry Christmas!
Mary Ann says
I’ve done that too, Marguerite. In fact I left some at my sister’s and when I went back a month later, they were still moist. Merry Christmas!

you do the best round ups. i feel like i need one of each of these things. the away suitcases have been on my radar and this just sealed the deal. i think you need a beauty product round up soon, just saying…you’re looking FABULOUS Mary Ann.

Nancy

Thanks, Nancy! Merry Christmas!

These are great! Love the toothbrush idea. Steve always drags his clunky electric toothbrush with him everywhere. Luggage tags, check, I usually wrap my clothes in tissue but this looks like a way better idea. These are all fabulous suggestions!

I’m thinking the same thing–I was there in 1988. I think it has changed a lot since.
I’ve heard about Quip toothbrushes on the Pod Save America podcasts, but had never seen one. Interesting!

What I love about these gift ideas is how they are practical yet will also bring joy just because of what they suggest: a fun getaway or vacation on the horizon! I’m the lightest packer I know, but maybe those cubes could streamline things even more, yes???
Mary Ann says
Yes! Especially if you want to bring anything back! And you can separate your dirty clothes. Love YOUR Gift guide.
