My daughter, Alie and two friends just moved into great new “digs.”
They graduated from college a year ago and fortunately have good jobs.
I created this mood board to give them some ideas using less expensive sources.
Looking back on my early twenties, I remember the importance of having
a sturdy coffee table…
(in case anyone jumped up on it while dancing). Those were the days!
This is the floor plan Alie emailed me while on her way to catch a plane, HUH?
Sorry about the visibility. I’d like to get the actual dimensions.
You take the spiral staircase to the two other bedrooms upstairs.
We are going to New York this weekend.
Alie and I want to go here on Sunday.
I will give you an update on the girls’ apartment with photos.
Also, Cassity from Remodelaholic is featuring our other child, Tommy’s room today.
If you have already seen Tommy’s remodeled room…
check out their other fun projects!

Can't wait to see the girls' apartment!! I loved what you did with Tommy's and as we all know, doing a girls' room is much more fun!! By the way, I have a boy the exact same age as Alie (whose last girlfriend even had the same name!)

What a fun and exciting time.
How exciting! And that's a great board you put together. I just start taking classes for interior design and we talked about floor plans so I was quite interested in the the drawing your daughter sketched up. Have fun at the flea market and report back with your findings!

I'll bet you can't wait to get your hands on this project! How fun and how lucky they are to have you help in the design and install too! I just checked out Brooklyn Flea…I have to go there next time! I haven't spent enough time discovering Brooklyn…maybe you'll do some fun Brooklyn posts?!
Your daughter's apartment sounds very fun, I love the spiral stairs to the next floor.
Your mood board looks great and yes, less expensive than some! I love the colors.
I read your post on 9/11, it was lovely. I love the USA and pray that it never sees such a tragic occurence again.
Hugs, Cindy

I would have loved a first apartment that looked like that. Mine was filled with a mishmash of hand-me-downs.
I sure wouldn't want to have to climb those spiral stairs! That sounded "old" didn't it 🙂 Love what you put together for them. Love NYC and have always wanted to go to that flea market. I hear Nate goes there…be on the lookout!
She is one lucky girl to have a talented mom like you with such a wonderful eye and flair for decorating. Love your mood board, its young, hip fresh but elegant. Cannot wait to see it all come together!
Great mood board! Will be so exiting for them to make themselves a nest! X
