We were just supposed to re-do Melina’s living and dining rooms (where most of the budget went). But you know how that goes…suddenly you realize other things don’t look so hot. Like in the family room.
The brown sofa had to stay…but the dilapidated pillows–no! In fact, if you have pillows like this, your sofa would look better without any throw pillows. I can be harsh.
In come lighter, fresher pillows and a throw blanket.
The Ballard giclée looked smaller and softer on-line when Melina bought it. Here is the online photo:
…notice the difference?
We replaced it with this one. It’s more soothing, a better size and they can take their time looking for original art if they want.
The new coffee table is also from Ballard, and the tray (on sale now) and glass shadow box are from West Elm. Most of the other accessories were already owned.
The family room is open to the kitchen. Melina heard me thinking out loud about wanting to update pendants.
These pendants from Pottery Barn (good price and on sale) look current especially with the filament bulbs.
We also added the one of a kind, industrial, iron pedestal bowl. Just a little refresh without breaking the bank.
Melina is in great shape! When I was working at her house she made this for us (although another time I heard her ask her husband to bring home burgers for dinner 🙂
One more thing…I noticed this helpful marble chart at Ann Sacks. Do you have a favorite?

Where are these pillows from? I love them!!!
We had them custom made…but you could look on Etsy.
