It’s amazing to me that the women I know who have had difficult relationships with their mothers have become the most outstanding moms in spite of it! I am a lucky daughter to have had a wonderful mom as an example.
(With Mom in London years ago)
My mom, Louise had six children! But each of us has felt her unconditional love throughout our lives. She was there for the birth of our children. When I didn’t know what I was doing with our first out of control crying infant, she took her in her arms, held her firmly, rocked her–and miracles of miracles–quiet.
Twenty-four years ago, she came to Florida to take care of me after breast cancer surgery. My kids were just seven and two years old…but I was her baby then.
Louise taught me to keep our children safe, raise them with good morals and that while it’s good to be their friend, it’s more important to be their mother.
This proves to my clients that I once had dated furniture, too (but this is 28 years ago).
We loved a good fort. Oh, and by the way…I’m only 5’1″ tall and my babies were 8.5 and 9.5 lbs. at birth. Yeah, NOT fun! Shocking, really if I think back on it.
Here are some winner gifts (with a few affiliate links) that new and experienced moms will love.
Coyuchi Soft Organic Cotton Robe (I’ve given this as a gift)• Long Fresh Water Pearl and Labradorite Necklace (I would love this–from Etsy) • Chanel No. 5 Eau de Parfume (always a classic) • Farmgirl Bouquet (given these as gifts, too) • Handwritten letter sent to her in the mail (this is the best present)• Belkin Wireless Telephone Charging Pad (I just bought this as my charging cord kept falling behind my dresser–LOVE this) • Luxe Linen Pajamas (Annie gave these luxe jammies as a hostess gift. The pants are long so great if you are tall. I just had them shortened at the dry cleaners).
This was at our daughter’s eighth-grade graduation from the Marymount School in Paris.
Being a mother is a life-long vocation. It doesn’t end when your children are grown.
You will always worry and hope for the best for them. But it’s the best job I have ever had!
Happy Mother’s Day next weekend!

I have to say you only get better with age and I cling to all your posts but especially the ones about beauty and fashion. 😉 Happy Mother’s Day Mary Ann!

My hair keeps getting blonder to hide the gray! That’s why all French women over 50 are blondes 🙂 Or so I’ve heard.

I loved this! I didn’t know you were a survivor. I have such admiration for you and other survivors. My best friend just went through a bad scare and we are relieved she is ok for now.
Have a wonderful Mother’s Day!!!
