Good morning, my friend! How are you holding up at this crazy time? Let me take your mind off the world for a few minutes and show you…My Fall Finds: Home Decor, Trader Joe’s, Target, and more.
Be sure to see what Annie and Cindy have in store this week, too, at the end of the post.
1. White Faux Pumpkins
I finally figured out that buying faux mini pumpkins makes more sense than buying fresh every year. We don’t have much storage, so I think just a few strategically placed works.
2. My Favorite $20 Leather Slippers
There is not much heat in my office so I like to wear warm slippers while working. These Target slippers are my favorite. Over the last couple of years, I bought the caramel, black, and I just recently ordered the red!
These usually sell out in most of the colors by Christmas (nice gift). I like them better than my Ugg mules as they stay on my feet and they are only 20 bucks! True to size on me.
3. What to Watch On Netflix
While Howard was watching sports, I watched this cute movie…
“While searching for her missing mother, intrepid teen Enola Holmes uses her sleuthing skills to outsmart big brother Sherlock and help a runaway lord.”
4. Good Things for Fall at Trader Joe’s
After a few trips to Trader Joe’s recently, I updated this post with more good finds like a reasonably priced Bordeaux, butternut squash ravioli, and lots more.
5. Why A Dining Bench Works For Us
Some people don’t like dining benches (usually the person sitting in the middle of one who wants to use the restroom 🙂 But for us in an apartment, it adds another comfortable spot to sit and work.
I bought the WS Home bench in regular linen (you can get it in performance fabric now) four or five years ago. I recovered it recently in Kravet and Schumacher’s (Sarong Weave) performance fabric.
The “Quadrille Volpi” pillow is a new acquisition from Liana’s “closing up shop sale.” I told you about it on one of my five faves…and everything sold out the same day!
Those are my Fall Finds My Home Decor, Trader Joe’s, and Target. Go see what great things my friends are discovering. I’m heading over now.

Thanks for the weekly “5.” It is a favorite of mine. I am of the opinion you can’t have too many pumpkins and your white ones are cute. I am intrigued with the Target houseshoes. What a good price! Thank you. I watched a preview of “Enola Holmes” and it looked like one I would enjoy. I watched the old Hitchcock classic, “Suspicion,” with Joan Fontaine and Cary Grant. Did you know Fontaine won Best Actress for it and is the only actor to receive an Academy Award for a Hitchcock movie? I found that surprising. On the down side, I have no Trader Joe’s near me. When we can travel again, you can be sure I will pay them a visit.

36 people already bought the slippers…and my red ones just came. I love them. Definitely time to watch an old movie. Thanks for the suggestion! We went on the Alfred Hitchcock SF Free walking tour before Covid. Very Interesting@

I always love reading your Trader Joes favorites! It seems like they have the best stuff in the fall. I love those nuts! I buy a couple and keep them in the freezer this time of year. Those slippers look amazing and what a great price. I certainly love the ones you gave me. I think of you everyday when I put them on. I am going to check out your Netflix selection. Those faux pumpkins sure look real!

I thought Enola was adorable too, especially for girls. It was refreshing to see a strong female lead who wasn’t eye or arm candy. I hope they put out more episodes.
Mary Ann Pickett says
Me too, Jeanne!

This post has so many fun fall things I want to purchase now. I like how everything you posted about is affordable but also lasting, good quality is very important.

Thank you for a fun and informative blog. Love it!
Could you please share the source for the set of curvy candlesticks on your fireplace mantel? They’re so interesting/attractive.
Mary Ann Pickett says
Thanks…I got them at World Market a few years ago and they don’t have them anymore. I’ve shown some others from CB2.

Loved Anola. I’m not going into markets, so I’ll have to wait to purchase so many goodies. always enjoy your 5 favorites.

Hi Mary Ann, all good things here today! I think a bench at the table is a great way to add extra seating. We bring one up whenever we have big family dinners. The cousins squeeze together and seem to enjoy it! I need to get into Trader Joe’s, haven’t been since the shutdown started, it’s about time!
Pumpkin shopping tomorrow. Can’t believe it’s me of year already!
XO Heidi
Mary Ann Pickett says
True…easy to squeeze in more little bottoms. Hope you had a fun time in the pumpkin patch!!

The rug under your bench is stunning! Would you please share the name and source?
Mary Ann Pickett says
Thanks, it’s vintage from Turkey…on Etsy. There is a source under Shop Our Home.

I love your blog and the variety of information you provide. You often mention “performance fabric”. I am planning to recover a couch and I would like to know how one determines if a fabric is “performance fabric”. Have you done a post on that in the past? Thank you
Mary Ann Pickett says
They are usually easy to clean and made by companies like Crypton, Sunbrella, and Perennials. Normally, the fabric has the listing on it “performance” and is made from acrylic (but the new ones are soft like cotton or linen).
Michelle Flanagan says
Love the bench. Can I ask where the table is from? I’m looking for something similar.
Mary Ann Pickett says
I got the table not that long ago from Pottery Barn…but they discontinued it (sorry).
