1. The first day in Buenos Aires, we took The City Bus tour…a guided head-set tour, where you can hop on and hop off (our group referred to it as The HoHo). It gives you the highlights of the beautiful city, as well as, the “lay of the land.”
2. Have brunch or lunch at the Park Hyatt Palacio Duhau.
I felt a bit like royalty…
The price for brunch was reasonable too…even with all this grandeur.
Stroll around the hotel. It’s beautiful.
3. Go for a walk past modern and historical architecture.
Buenos Aires is such a stylish and cosmopolitan city.
When the Pope left Buenos Aires for Rome, he personally telephoned the newsstand that delivered his daily paper to tell them that he would not be needing it any more.
4. There is an outstanding art collection at Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes…it’s free!
While I was there, a tour in English was given (1 pm Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays).
5. Stroll through the upscale shopping mall, Patio Bullrich.
6. We enjoyed our colorful hotel, The Brick.
7. Visit the elaborate Recoleta Cemetery for the wealthy including politicians and celebrities like Eva Peron. The gray, damp weather while we were there felt appropriate.
8. The Evita Museum, was also interesting…making it impossible for me to get the song out of my head “Don’t Cry For Me Argentina…”
9. We went to a tango show where first they gave us a dance lesson (I was pathetic…it’s hard) and then we had dinner (grilled steak and Argentine Malbec) and watched the dancers…¡caliente!
Thank you, Howard, for using your airline miles for me to come along with you.
It was a great trip!
