This is a challenging, narrow family room to furnish. There are many door openings, pass throughs and stair way in the room. And the television could only be placed opposite the fireplace wall. Each of the family of four needs a place to sit with his/her feet up.
My client, Mary inherited this sectional, that the family liked but it was crammed into the room and blocked the French doors. Additionally, you step down into the room and the walls were painted black and red which wasn’t consistent with the lighter beach feel that she wanted.
Sort of a challenge right?
Do you remember me showing you Mary’s kitchen valance (that Liana made) and Dash and Albert rug?
The lightened family room now blends with the updated kitchen.
In the dining room, where there was no pendant lighting, we draped a large lantern from Ballard Designs (reasonably priced) over the dining table.
Two matching Lee Industries love seats free up some space for better flow. The quality and comfort of these sofas are great!
Notice the mantel’s new Pottery Barn mirror…also reflects light. I love the simplicity of this iron beveled mirror with all the stone. And it is easy to layer…
We will be purchasing a small club chair to replace the parson’s chair in the photo.
I like the versatility of these Ballard Designs Leather Cubes in Almond…handsome in person, too!
Mary is happy with her new, lightened up family room.
Now, we’ll be revamping her powder room with a coastal feel.
The frame below is from Restoration Hardware.
Aren’t they a beautiful family?
