Just over the Golden Gate bridge (15 minutes from my house, if I time it right) is Mill Valley.
A pretty place with rolling hills and bay views. Sue and her family live there. Her friend, Kelly reads my blog (hey Kelly, let’s have coffee!) and told Sue to contact me regarding updating her home.
The first room we started with was the kitchen. It had the white shaker cabinets that Sue wanted but everything else was dated.
At our first meeting, we sat at the skinny breakfast bar and things were falling off as I was trying to take notes. I said “Since we are getting new countertops, let’s make this one level to expand the space.”
The not fun part…living there without a kitchen.
Sue organized much of the construction and did a fabulous job!
The soffit was removed over the sink and new lighting was installed. A Kohler Whitehaven sink (with a shorter apron to work with the existing cabinetry) was installed. Benjamin Moore Super White paint freshened up the cabinets.
Icing on the cake is this Walker Zanger Jet Set in Thassos backsplash.
With a new range and cabinetry hardware.
I love these Ralph Lauren Fulton sconces …sort of a nautical look for a home with a view of the San Francisco Bay.
Wainscoting and brackets were added to the bar base. The counter has a flat mitered edge so you can’t see the seam. The vintage Toledo barstools from Restoration Hardware are sturdy for a family with two young boys…and they are on sale right now.
Last week, Sue’s husband was sitting here with his laptop working from home. Made me happy to see him enjoying the elbow room 🙂
More is going on at this home and it should be ship shape in time for Thanksgiving with visiting family!
Which is a great time to visit San Francisco! I want someone to tour Alcatraz with me (you need advance tickets, I’m told).
Thanks for visiting!
